Depending on the style, there are two ways to clean your SAOLAs. In both cases, be sure to remove the insoles first.
For these models: TSAVO - WANAKA KNIT - CANNON KNIT - WANAKA CANVAS - CANNON CANVAS - VIRUNGA, take out the cork insole before machine washing your shoes. Use a gentle cycle and keep the water temperature below 30°C (86°F)
For these models: WANAKA - WANAKA WATERPROOF - WANAKA WATERPROOF WARM - ALTA VIBRAM – BERGEN (ALL) - CANNON - CANNON WATERPROOF - CANNON KNIT WOOL - TSAVO WOOL - TSAVO WATERPROOF - CANNON LINEN - CANNON VL - SEQUOIA, first, remove the cork insole. Then, wash your shoes by hand using a sponge and mild soap.
To clean your insoles, simply remove them from the shoes and wash gently by hand using a sponge and mild soap
If you are in between two shoe sizes, we recommend sizing up.
I love the look of the Canon--I think this is my fourth pair, two waterproof, two non--and this pair was really comfortable right out of the box. They are well-made and, if earlier pairs are any indication, durable!
Not yet tested long-term or in rainy conditions (I bought these shoes because they’re waterproof). But I have a great impression of the quality and comfort—they feel like slippers from the very first try!
We’ll see if they last and if the waterproofing lives up to the promise, but I’m hopeful!
I'm impressed by how warm these shoes are and the waterproof coating. This is my second pair from Saola, and I’ll stay loyal to the brand because their shoes are lightweight and durable. The only downside is the high base price for a pair of sneakers.
I hope a waterproof model will be part of the summer collection. I use the shoes for biking to work (16 km one way).
Comfortable and seem durable. However, the insole is too thick and doesn’t allow the foot to settle properly. I ended up buying a thinner pair of insoles from a store to replace them.
Perfect fit. Super comfortable. Great at keeping my feet dry through San Francisco puddles in recent atmospheric rivers. Also worked great in New York recently to keep my feet warm in freezing temperatures. They look great, too! Love 'em! Bought the first pair at REI and loved them so much that bough a second pair for backup directly from Saola. Thank you!!
I discovered a grey version of this shoe at a boutique in Picton, New Zealand while on a cruise from Auckland to Sydney. I had never heard of the brand before, but fell in love with them when I saw them, tried them on and read about the brand’s sustainability efforts. When I came back to the USA, I bought the navy pair. I’m obsessed. They look good and they feel good.
The Saola Cannon Waterproof 2.0 in chocolate has quickly become one of my favorite pairs of shoes. They’re the perfect mix of comfort, style, and practicality. I love that they’re super lightweight, so I can wear them all day without any discomfort. Plus, they’re fully waterproof, which is a lifesaver through these Colorado winters. The chocolate color is really versatile and works with almost anything I wear, whether it’s casual or a bit more dressed up. But what really makes these shoes stand out is Saola’s commitment to sustainability. Knowing they’re made from recycled materials like plastic bottles and eco-friendly foam makes me feel good about wearing them. Overall, these shoes check every box for me. If you’re looking for something comfortable, stylish, and sustainable, I can’t recommend the Cannon Waterproof 2.0 enough.
They're not bad, but they're not great; I don't love the label that says 'waterproof' on the side of the shoe and they aren't that comfortable. I'm keeping them in hopes of breaking them in because I love the company's mission of sustainability.
My partner had a pair of leather sneakers that he lived in. He was gifted them years ago, and while he loved the fit and look of them, he is also vegan so they caused him a good amount of internal angst. Fortunately/unfortunately they got swept away in the ocean during a surprise high tide. It happened while I was with his stuff and I felt responsible to get him a new pair. I scoured the Internet for shoes that looked similar, and were made by a company with values and practices that better match his own. I crossed my fingers that the saola shoes would feel as comfortable as his old ones. Turns out (drumroll…) they are! And he loves them! I’m feeling so lucky to have found saola shoes. I highly recommend!
These are my favorite shoes I have purchased in a long time. I did order a half a size up and the shoes fit perfectly. The quality on these shoes appear to be very high and they look great. The have some great tread on them as well and am excited to be able to wear these shoes during any occasion, including hiking. I'd recommend these shoes to anyone.
I just randomly came across these shoes while searching from some sustainably built shoes. Very glad that these popped up, love them!
I can’t say how long I’ve been looking for this exact shoe. The style of a nicer lifestyle sneaker that’s simple and non technical looking but with technical features. I got these for a trip to Portland where it was pouring the whole time and I’ve been using them every day since it’s been raining on the west coast so much. They’re water proof (not water resistant) and not a single drop got through. I also wanted a foam or non rubber midsole because I find 1 they’re lighter 2 they’re way comfier for impact on my ankles and feet. They also actually have grip instead of just grooves. I’m also a huge fan of grey shoes. They work like white shoes but you don’t have to worry about dirt as much.
I would say definitely go a half size up. I ordered both a 10.5 and an 11 and I’m a very true 10.5 for most shoes. The 11 is perfect. I added another set of insoles on top of the others and there was room. Insoles can be replaced but midsoles cannot so that’s why I’m so particular about them. My ankles and feet tend to hurt in most shoes but I wore these walking around all day in the rain and I was good.
Not a sponsored or paid review or anything I’m just kind of a gear nerd and really particular. I am not a minimalist packer but they ended up being the only shoes I wore since you can dress them up or down. Not sure how they’ll do in the summer yet but for fall winter and spring (probably) it’s the perfect shoe so far.
I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks now and this is the first time I've fallen for waterproof shoes! I love them! To have dry feet all day long, even in the rain and snow.. love it!
Congrats Saola, I love my new pair. This soft-touch vegan leather is very nice and I have received lots of compliments already! And as usual... so light and comfy! Keep doing the great work! This is my second pair but not my last one :) !
