My plan all along was to wear these without socks, and these shoes work great that way. But they're snug — tight enough that wearing socks isn't really an option. So not quite the full five stars I've given to all the other Saola shoes I've bought. But tremendous sockless shoes, no doubt.

Depending on the style, there are two ways to clean your SAOLAs. In both cases, be sure to remove the insoles first.
For these models:
TSAVO - WANAKA KNIT - CANNON KNIT - WANAKA CANVAS - CANNON CANVAS - VIRUNGA, take out the cork insole before machine washing your shoes. Use a gentle cycle and keep the water temperature below 30°C (86°F)
For these models:
WANAKA - WANAKA WATERPROOF - WANAKA WATERPROOF WARM - ALTA VIBRAM – BERGEN (ALL) - CANNON - CANNON WATERPROOF - CANNON KNIT WOOL - TSAVO WOOL - TSAVO WATERPROOF - CANNON LINEN - CANNON VL - SEQUOIA, first, remove the cork insole. Then, wash your shoes by hand using a sponge and mild soap.
To clean your insoles, simply remove them from the shoes and wash gently by hand using a sponge and mild soap
If you are in between two shoe sizes, we recommend sizing up.

They are exactly what I was looking for. They are comfy but, not as comfy as my Cannon Knits. Gotta wear socks with these.

The sole has a lot of cushion, as I hoped they would. They wear like a sneaker but fit well with a business casual office

Was expecting a well breathing summer shoe like the knit and this is not that. The uppers have a padding to them so they fit more snugly and don’t breathe at all. Still a really stylish shoe but not what I was looking for in warm weather

Shoes get points for: lightweight, eco-friendly, priced right, look good. Negatives are: stiff and minimal cushioning meant they definitely need breaking in, and aren't comfortable out of the box. Possible quality issue with right shoe -- tongue keeps shifting to the right (and I don't think this is an issue with my foot, as other shoes don't do this).

Best shoes I've ever bought! They're very comfortable, breathe well, look good, and so far (after 6 months) seem to be pretty durable - nothing's broken or ripped yet. The soles are starting to wear a bit, but considering I've been wearing them every single day I'm pleasantly surprised. I've just ordered some SAOLA winter shoes as well, since these are perfect for spring/autumn, but the weather's getting pretty chilly now!

The shoes are great, but the service I received was even better! Salma in Marketing & Communication was super patient & understanding. When my first pair of shoes were never delivered, she was understanding and sent over a new pair. I've been walking in style ever since! The shoes run on the smaller size, so if you have wide feet like mine, you may want to go up a half size.

These shoes have worked out very well so far. I've been looking to update my spring/summer casual shoe collection with sustainable/ethical brands. These look good with chino shorts, and I imagine they could work well with chino pants or the right pair of jeans as well. And my wife really likes how they look, so there's that! So far they've been pretty comfortable - my feet survived a longer-than-intended walk on the very first day I wore them, and then they were my main pair of shoes for a beach vacation (when I wasn't barefoot or in sandals!). As I believe another reviewer commented, I am curious to see how durable or not these are over time, but so far I'm happy with my purchase, and I appreciate the mission and values of the brand.

Worn for a week on vacation, the lightness is really pleasant! The comfort is great too. The dune color is superb!
